Back To School DIY Boys Clothes

DIY Boys (1)

Here are some stylish ideas for sewing your little boys(or big boys!) own back to school wardrobe!

1.The LumberJack Shirt from PatternsforPirates, Sizes 3m-14 , $9.00

I love dressing my boys in button up shirts, they can be styled many ways(around the waist, by itself, unbuttoned with a fun graphic shirt underneath) and are perfect for chilly fall days. This pattern from PatternsforPirates includes size three months all the way up to fourteen! That means I can use this pattern many times for my oldest boy and my littlest guy too, saving pattern storage space and money.

Some adorable fabrics that would go well with this pattern are:

Kaufman Burly Beavers Check Red Fabric

2. The Cape Cod Shirt and Dress from Peekaboo Pattern Shop, Sizes 3m-12yr, $7.95

This is a cute option for when you want more than just a t-shirt. The pattern also comes with a dress pattern, so if you also have girls you could make some adorable coordinating outfits ❤

I love the way Candice Ayala made this one up, I think I like it without the pockets the best.

3. Varsity Cowl Neck Pullover from Peekaboo Pattern Shop, Sizes 3m-12yr, $7.95

I love the cowl neck on this pullover, it’s so stylish! I think I’d make this one in these fabrics:

4. Raglan Shirt from lifesewsavory, Sizes 18m-10yr, Free

Yep, you read that right, this is a free pattern! It comes in many sizes and there’s a nice little tutorial for it too. That’s a win to me!

Here are some nice knit fabrics to make your raglans out of:

5. The Desmond Jacket from ShwinDesigns, Sizes 12m-10yr, $9.00

What school wardrobe is complete without a fashionable blazer? I’d love to make one in the fabric below with just a plain white lining. I could make one for each of my boys so they can match ❤ (Can you tell I love dressing my kids in matching outfits? #twinsies)

Oh, I think this blazer might also look nice in a burgundy or dark blue velvet, with black velvet trim….that’d be luxurious!

6. The Ollie Bomber Jacket from Sew a Little Seam, Sizes 12m-12yr, $7.00

The best thing about this pattern: it’s reversible! So you can have a fun print on one side and a basic solid on the other(or fun prints on both sides, if that’s your thing!). I can’t seem to find any cute animal prints in a sturdy knit fabric that I like, drop me some suggestions below in the comments!

7. Toddler Backpack from Made by Rae, $8.00

Backpacks are a must for school, why not make one tailored to your little guy’s style? This basic backpack pattern from Made by Rae is a classic, and can be made for bigger kids as well. I love the fabrics Make Me Studio used ❤

8. Fox Backpack from Stitchy Studio, $6.50

How cute is this fox backpack? It’s so cute! I think you could go for the traditional fox look(orange and white) or do some different colors such as turquoise and purple.

9. Skinny Jeans from Peekaboo Pattern Shop, Sizes 12m-10yr +18″ Doll, $7.95

Skinny jeans are a staple in my boys’ wardrobes, and this skinny jean pattern looks perfect. Especially with the wide range of sizes that are included(it even comes in doll size!). I’ll be making regular blue jean skinnies and some trendy color skinnies too.

These are the patterns I’d like to sew for my oldest boy’s back to school wardrobe this year, do you have any favorites I didn’t mention? Share them with me below!
